The Reason for Friends!

So, you're probably familiar with our best toddler buddy, Maxwell (read "Maxs-MELL). Today he and his mom spontaneously came over, so we spent some time outside, swinging, running around, and swatting off the Texas mosquitos.

As I watched them play, I was reminded of why it's important to have good friends. Maxwell definitely influences E, and she influences him. In fact, this first pic is of a new trick that Maxwell taught her. Up until this point, E did not know that one's tummy could be used for swinging. (P.S. I wish I had this on video because she's actually singing, nay shouting, her favorite song "From the Inside Out." Her open mouth is forming the words You're light...)

I can see that they also influence each other's behavior. And since we pray regularly for E to have God-fearing friends who encourage her and exhort to do the right thing, we are so thankful for our buddy Maxwell. He is tender-hearted, joyful, creative, loving, and obedient (no matter what his parents might say!! :)). We pray that E might be this kind of friend to others, too.

As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another. Proverbs 27:17

I think Maxwell is a very lucky little boy to have Elizabeth as a friend. We know from experience how much fun she is to play with. And from the way Elizabeth talks about him, Maxwell must be a pretty special little guy as well.
