Prepare Yourself...
...This post contains shocking pictures from the events of yesterday. :)
Elizabeth got a major haircut!!! We have been prayerfully wanting to develop in her (and us) a heart of service this summer, so we've been introducing some different ideas. One that we introduced a couple of weeks ago was the idea of donating her hair through the wonderful agency called Locks of Love. E definitely had the required ten inches necessary to make a donation. But when we first talked about it, she was reluctant (read: opposed) to the idea of giving away her hair. By God's grace, I realized it would be wrong to coerce her into it, so I let it drop. Interestingly, a few days later, I overheard her talking to Matt about donating her hair. She talked about it as if it was already a done deal. Precious!
Then just yesterday, she asked if we could cut her hair that day. Totally wanting to seize the moment, I agreed. So that afternoon after naptime, we all went as a family to see E get her new do. (Side note: for those of you attached to E's beautifully long hair, the following pictures might be shocking, even scandalous. I'll admit that I started to tear up a bit as the lady started cutting. Eek!)
E has been so joyful since her haircut; she likes her new do and loves showing it off. What a joy to be her mom and see the changes in her life, both on the inside and out!

Shannie,
I've been checking and checking for the picture. What a DELIGHTFUL haircut!! I burst into smiles when I saw it. Tell E that her hair is lovely and I am so proud of her for donating her beautiful long hair!!
Hides
I totally cried! I feel for you as the mama- the joy, the pride, the attachment...wow! PRECIOUS girl!!!! The bob is just adorable!
OK, I knew this was coming and I still cried, both at the precious heart of Elizabeth to want to donate her hair and, most of all, at the picture of my beautiful little girl. She looks so different and yet just as beautiful--just more grown-up which is a little hard for her Siti to take. Tell her I am very proud of her for doing this--both the cutting and the donating.
By the way, I know I'm commenting alot, but I wanted to add--kudos to you as a mom for not pushing the Locks of Love idea in the beginning, but letting the Lord work in E's little heart and letting her come around to the idea on her own with His urging. Way to be a patient and loving Mom!
Tell Elizabeth that her new hair style is beautiful (as is she) and that I am proud of her for donating her hair.
Tell Elizabeth Nana is so proud of her for donating her hair. The new cut is precious! Love it!!

Ooohhh, what a precious 'do on your sweet Elizabeth! I love it! I mentioned to Evelyn a while ago that she could donate her hair (I donated my hair a few years ago, and I'm currently growing it out to do so again). She said she'd like to do it when she turns 16. Hmmm. Nothing like planning waaay in advance! Your girls are so very sweet. I love getting to know them through your blog!
